Mai Manó House (Hungarian House of Photography) is the centre of contemporary photography in Budapest.

As a true intellectual workshop it provides opportunity to various trends in photography for introducing themselves. Its exhibitory activities are enhanced by professional programs: meetings of visitors and artist, book-presentations, lectures, screenings, conferences, informal talks. Its events target people of all ages interested in photography: more than  110 year-old studio-house offers an exceptional opportunity for museum-pedagogical classes. There are events especially organized for professional photographers: portfolio-reviews and master-classes. Mai Manó House's educational activity propagates photographing and the art of photography in an ever widening circle.

Guided tour and public discussion with Jean Marquis and his wife, Susy Fischer, Robert Capa’s niece

We welcome two prominent guests in the street of photography when the famous photographer, Jean Marquis and his wife, Susy Fischer, Robert Capa’s niece visit the institutions of photography in downtown Budapest.

On Wednesday, September 3 at 5:30pm, Jean Marquis will guide a tour in French at the Magnum’s First exhibition, where his works are also on display, in the Mai Manó House. The tour is going to be in French, interpretation to Hungarian is provided.

Following the guided tour we invite you to a public discussion with Susie Fischer and Jean Marquis in the Capa Center from 7:00pm. The talk is led by Zsuzsanna Balázs journalist in English.

Photography Speaker Series in English

Following the success of the Photography Free University series, the Hungarian House of Photography launches an English speaking lecture series in 2012 to all those interested in photography. The first semester of the series features experts on various fields of photography with topics ranging from discussions on past and present Hungarian, as well as international photography, historical and institutional opportunities and perspectives, as well as artistic endeavors and possibilities.
