The Hungarian House of Photography operates as a “public service company” (Kht. in Hungarian), i.e. a non-profit business,
which tries to combine the advantages of both a limited company and the foundation.
Therefore, in the company contract two kinds of activity areas are defined separately: a non-profit and a for-profit activity.
According to Act CLVI. of 1997., the House was granted “outstandingly public service” status by court, since it looks after
some tasks which are prescribed by the particular laws. As a consequence of this status if any business donates money to Mai
Manó House, they can deduct 150% from their tax base. whereas private persons can write 35% off the donation of their taxes.
