Monika Merva 1997-ben szerzett M.F.A. (Master of Fine Arts) diplomát fotográfiából a Savannah College of Art & Design-on. 2000-től kezdve New Yorkban él. Amikor nem dolgozik, „Gyermekváros” című anyagát készíti, ami egy magyarországi fóti átmeneti gyermekszállásról szól. Képeit New Yorkban, Atlantában, Chicagóban mutatták be. Jelenleg Londonban a 2006-os Fotóportré Pályázat Kiállításon szerepelnek a képei. Merva két kategóriában nyert különdíjat és az American Photo-n. A “2007-es Év Képei” számban is szerepelt. Képei magán- és közgyűjteményekben, a világ számos országában megtalálhatók.
